Job summary

Hastings Deering invites motivated individuals to join our world-class laboratory as Trainees. You’ll gain real, hands-on experience, on-the-job training, and earn a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.

This is a 2-year contract with the possibility of a full-time role at the end. In this position, you will collect samples, unpack/sort/label, prepare samples for analysis, conduct routine analyses with lab instrumentation, calibrate equipment, and maintain safe, clean lab conditions.

Qualifications

• Hold a year 12 certificate.
• Willingness to learn and develop laboratory skills.
• Interest in pursuing a career in a laboratory environment.

In this position, you will:

• Collect samples from designated collection points within the premises
• Unpack, sort, label and register samples accurately
• Prepare samples for analysis following laboratory procedures and work instructions
• Conduct routine analysis using a range of laboratory instrumentation
• Correlate and record analytical data
• Complete competency-based laboratory studies and training activities
• Prepare laboratory standards and reagents
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation
• Perform housekeeping and routine laboratory equipment maintenance
• Maintain sample traceability and ensure accurate laboratory records
• Display care in the use of company instrumentation, tools, and property
• Contribute to a safe, clean and efficient laboratory environment
