Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking a construction materials tester for our Laverton production laboratory. This full-time role suits entry-level or experienced candidates aiming to advance their career in a NATA-accredited environment.

You will sample and test asphalt, aggregates and binders, manage chemicals, and report results while maintaining safety and good lab housekeeping. Responsibilities include day-to-day testing, documentation, and providing technical support to production.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
• Professional written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Honest, confident and reliable.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (advantageous).
• Understanding of the asphalt industry preferable.
• Knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; QESTLAB experience is beneficial.
• Willingness to work night shifts and weekends as required.

We currently have a full-time vacancy for a construction materials tester to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at our Laverton production laboratory. This position will suit either entry level or experienced candidates looking to take the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of asphalt to Australian standard methods in our NATA accredited Laboratory, your responsibilities will include;

• Sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates, binders and asphalt field compaction testing.
• The hands-on, day-to-day sampling and testing in accordance with specified requirements.
• The handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standards
• Reporting, record keeping and calibrations including reporting non-conforming products.
• Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounds.
• Providing technical support to production departments.
• Some travel will be required, based on the needs of the business.

To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience:

• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and achieve strict deadlines.
• Professional communication, written and interpersonal skills.
• Honest, confident and reliable.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (would be advantageous).
• Previous experience in heavy industries or an interest in this field of work
• Ideally you will have an understanding of the asphalt industry.
• Having a demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories would be viewed favourably but is not essential as full training will be provided. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience of QESTLAB would be advantageous.
• Willingness to work nightshifts and weekends as required.
