Job summary

James Cook University seeks a dynamic leader to manage Laboratory and Technical Services across Preclinical Sciences. You will drive planning, safety, compliance and high-quality teaching support, overseeing facilities, equipment and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires strong staff development, risk management and strategic collaboration to enhance service delivery and student outcomes at Townsville campuses.

Qualifications

• Management experience within complex biomedicine, microbiology, molecular or health science environments.
• Experience overseeing specialist facilities, equipment and resources in safe, compliant operations.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements, risk management and biosafety in laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, prioritisation and delivery of laboratory and technical services across campuses and disciplines.
• Ensure services are safe, consistent, high quality and align with standards and stakeholder expectations.
• Develop staff capability, manage workload and performance, and provide high-level technical advice.
• Drive service consistency, innovation and continuous improvement across facilities.
