Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking a full-time Laboratory Supervisor to oversee lab operations on a FIFO 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster. You will delegate tasks, monitor productivity, manage consumables, and ensure timely delivery of results.

You’ll coordinate sample returns and enforce Health & Safety protocols while maintaining rigorous records. The ideal candidate brings experience with AAS and XRF, familiarity with LC/EL LIMS, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of acid extraction methods and the ability to recognize various sample types.
• A solid understanding of analytical procedures.
• Familiarity with sample preparation procedures.
• Experience with AAS and XRF operation and laboratory techniques.
• Proficiency in using CCLAS EL LIMS.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Delegate tasks equitably among sample preparation and laboratory technicians on a daily basis.
• Monitor laboratory productivity to ensure all samples progress efficiently and on schedule.
• Track and report the laboratory's consumable stock levels weekly.
• Notify the manager promptly when consumables need to be reordered.
• Coordinate the return of samples and waste materials to clients, ensuring timely action and adherence to proper procedures.
• Ensure all team members consistently follow Health and Safety procedures in all laboratory areas.
• Support sample sorting, preparation, and reading processes as needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records related to sample submission, preparation progress, and archiving.
• Ensure all results are delivered to clients on time and in line with contractual agreements.
