Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Pilgangoora team in WA. This permanent full-time role includes FIFO rotations and a remuneration of AUD 90k–95k per annum.

You will support sample preparation and analysis using XRF, ICP-OES and ICP-MS, ensuring high-quality results and strict safety compliance. Key requirements include a chemistry-related qualification, a current driver's license, and experience in a minesite laboratory.

Qualifications

• Qualified in chemistry or related field or demonstrated experience.
• Current driver's license is required.
• Experience in a minesite laboratory environment is preferred.
• FIFO remote work is desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis ensuring quality and quantity.
• Perform XRF, ICP-OES & ICP-MS analyses and prepare standards.
• Maintain and clean analytical equipment and ensure safety.
• Deliver accurate results to customers and meet KPI targets.
• Follow onsite HSE standards and contribute to safety meetings.
• Understand assay methods and mine site sampling techniques.
• Provide handover reports across shifts.

Job Description

• Role based in Pilgangoora, WA
• Permanent Full Time
• Remuneration:$90k - 95k per annum
• FIFO: 8/6/7/7

We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team based in Pilgangoora, supporting laboratory testing and analysis activities.

Responsibilities include, however, not limited to:

• Be responsible for the quality and quantity preparation of samples resulting in complete analysis of those samples.
• Understanding the processes in the preparation and analysis of samples for XRF, ICP-OES & ICP-MS Wet Chemistry including preparation and validation of analytical standards.
• Maintenance and housekeeping of analytical and sample preparation equipment.
• Delivery of quality sample results to customers.
• Compliance with onsite HSE standards.
• Understanding of assay methods and recognition of sample types.
• An understanding of mine site sampling techniques.
• An understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
• Attend safety meetings and contribute to team safety.
• Able to provide detailed handover reports across shifts.
• Being able to meet SGS Australasian set KPI’s.
• At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Qualification in Chemistry or related field, or the equivalent of demonstrated experience
• Current driver's license
• Previous experience in a similar Minesite laboratory environment
• Previous FIFO remote work desired
• Previous XRF basic fault repair and error diagnosis desired
• Previous QC of analysis results desired
• Compliance with onsite HSE standards
