Job summary

The Laboratory Manager plays a key role at the University of New South Wales in supporting world-class research within UNSW Medicine & Health, ensuring efficient operation of laboratory facilities across on-campus and UNSW-managed sites. It provides expert operational, technical and logistical support to researchers for high-quality outcomes.

The role oversees laboratory operations, maintains infrastructure and equipment, and ensures compliance with regulatory, lab practice and safety

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a scientific discipline with relevant work experience.
• Experience managing PC2/PC3 laboratories (desirable).
• Extensive experience running a research laboratory's operations.
• Strong technical and logistical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to train others in safe lab practices and risk assessments.
• Experience developing policies and guidelines for research labs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory operations across UNSW facilities.
• Maintain research infrastructure and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, laboratory practice and health and safety requirements.
• Coordinate training and access to facilities.
• Support development of policies and continuous improvement of systems.
