Job summary

Sherwin-Williams in Thomastown, Melbourne is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join the ANZ team, working across packaging coatings, troubleshooting product issues, and helping bring new formulation ideas to life.

You’ll be involved in hands-on lab work, testing coatings, documenting findings and collaborating with colleagues across Asia to deliver improved products for customers.

Qualifications

• A degree or higher qualification, ideally in Chemistry.
• At least three to five years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Previous coatings experience would be a big plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly document your findings.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and database systems.
• A safety-first mindset and a genuine eye for detail.

• Investigate customer complaints and get to the bottom of coating performance issues.
• Test and evaluate coatings to help identify practical solutions.
• Support formulation tweaks and product improvements to keep existing products performing at their best.
• Get involved in new product development to meet changing customer needs.
• Prepare technical reports and support product shelf-life extensions.
• Build knowledge of customer processes, coating requirements and evaluation methods.
• Keep the lab, equipment and technical documentation in good shape.

We’re on the lookout for a Laboratory Chemist to join the team at Sherwin-Williams in Thomastown, Melbourne. You’ll be working across packaging coatings, helping troubleshoot product issues, improve existing formulations and bring new product ideas to life.
