Job summary

ibis Styles Hobart is seeking a part-time Kitchen Hand to join Mr. Good Guy restaurant in Hobart. You will support the team in delivering high-quality food production and presentation, assist with prep, and maintain hygiene across all work areas.

Ideally you have kitchen experience and a willingness to learn, with strong communication and reliability in a fast-paced environment. You will work across breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts within a central Hobart location.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen environments, with some exposure to Asian cuisine is desirable but not required.
• Willing to learn new skills and support the culinary team.
• Strong communication and a positive, professional attitude.
• Energetic, motivated and reliable in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to hygiene, safety and food quality.
• Available to work across breakfast and evening shifts, 7 days a week.
• Team player with the ability to work well with others, hospitality training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the team in delivering high-quality food production and presentation.

Job Description

• Support the team in delivering consistent, high-quality food production and presentation
• Carry out food preparation tasks efficiently and in line with presentation guidelines
• Keep all work areas clean, hygienic, and organised at all times
• Follow strict food safety and hygiene practices, avoiding cross-contamination
• Assist with dishwashing and general cleaning duties as required
• Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety hazards promptly
• Work collaboratively with other departments and maintain strong team relationships
• Contribute to achieving departmental targets and service standards
• Be flexible and willing to work across breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a kitchen, ideally with some exposure to Asian cuisine (desirable but not essential)
• A willingness to learn new skills and support the culinary team
• Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
• Energy, motivation and reliability in a fast-paced environment

• Availability to work various shifts (breakfast or evening) across 7 days a week

• Trade qualification or relevant hospitality training is an advantage, but not required
