Job summary

Mid-Western Regional Council in Mudgee is hiring a Kitchen Hand to support operation of a brand-new commercial kitchen within the MTTV. Work alongside the Head Chef handling food prep, service and hygiene for elite sporting teams, schools, corporate groups and community guests.

The role is casual, on-site, with hours based on guest and event needs, including early mornings, days, evenings and weekends. A supportive team and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Current NSW Food Safety Handling Certificate.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Relevant commercial kitchen experience, including food preparation, service and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with food preparation and basic meal assembly.

• Replenishing food during service.
• Dishwashing and cleaning kitchen facilities and equipment.
• Receiving, storing and rotating stock.

Mudgee Team Training Village | Mid-Western Regional Council - Casual - 1 Year Term

As a Kitchen Hand, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the Mudgee Team Training Village's brand-new commercial kitchen. Working alongside the Head Chef, you'll assist with food preparation, meal service, stock handling and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. Your contribution will help deliver exceptional hospitality experiences for elite sporting teams, schools, corporate groups and community organisations visiting one of Australia's leading regional team training facilities.

Working hours will be based on operational requirements and may include early morning, daytime, evening, weekend and public holiday shifts. This flexibility helps us meet the varying needs of guests, sporting teams and events at the Mudgee Team Training Village.

About you

We're looking for people who are reliable, hardworking and enjoys being part of a team. You'll be comfortable working in a busy kitchen, able to follow instructions and procedures and take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

You'll need:

• Current NSW Food Safety Handling Certificate.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Relevant commercial kitchen experience, including food preparation, service and food safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures and work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
• Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Reliable and physically capable of prolonged standing, lifting, carrying and repetitive tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends
• Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

The hourly rates for this casual position are as follows:

• $48.38 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) — Monday to Friday
• $58.05 per hour — Saturday
• $67.73 per hour — Sunday

The casual loading is calculated on the ordinary hourly rate and not paid on penalties or overtime.

Please note that you may also be entitled to additional shift penalties, where applicable, in accordance with the relevant Award.
