Job summary

Green Leaves Early Learning Centres is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Centre Chef in preparing nutritious meals and puree options, while meeting dietary needs for children. You will run culinary classes with Educators and ensure top food safety standards in a busy childcare kitchen.

Ideal applicants have current safety certificates, WWCC, and police clearance, with 20–25 hours per week and willingness to cover Chef duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have current Food Safety Certificate.
• Must have current Working with Childrens Check.
• Must have current Child Protection and National Safety Training Certificates.
• Must have current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012).
• Must have National Police Clearance obtained in last 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Support the Centre Chef in preparing a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees, and accommodate dietary requirements for babies and children.
• Provide culinary classes alongside Centre Chef and Educators.
• Maintain high food safety standards and keep the kitchen clean and safe as per authority requirements and Green Leaves standards.
• Utilise time management and communication skills to help run the kitchen smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
• Be willing to step up into the Chefs role when they are absent from the Centre (6:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
