Job summary

Wesley Mission is seeking a Kitchen Hand to support a Chef in preparing meals for residents and clients at our Sylvania site. The role covers set days and times, with responsibilities including food preparation, cooking assistance, serving, and maintaining a clean kitchen.

Candidates should have experience in fast-paced kitchens, strong attention to detail, and good communication. Desirable qualifications include a First Aid certificate and ability to work with limited supervision.

About the role

As Kitchen Hand, you will work with a Chef to provide meal options for village residents and other customers. The Kitchen Hand is responsible for food preparation, assisting the Chef with cooking of meal offerings, serving, and maintaining a clean kitchen. This position covers Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday service between 10.00am and 3pm, Tuesday 10.00am – 2.30pm and Sunday 10am to 3.00pm. From time to time there may be catering demands such as morning teas, events, and meeting lunch plates.

The successful applicant will have:

Essential criteria

There is a requirement to work weekday public holidays unless prior arrangements have been made.

Desirable criteria

• Experience working in an aged care setting.
• Qualifications or training in food preparation and cooking
• First aid certificate
