Job summary

Cabrini Health is seeking a casual Kitchenhand/Pot Wash to support the Patient Food Preparation team at Malvern Hospital. You will assist in preparing meals for patients and maintaining clean, safe kitchen areas.

Shifts include day and evening across the week, including weekends and public holidays. We value reliable, team‑driven individuals with a Food Handler's Certificate and good communication skills, able to handle heavy lifting and fast-paced environments while upholding safety and quality

Qualifications

• Food safety and hygiene knowledge is expected.
• Hold a Food Handler's Certificate (or willing to obtain one).
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical duties.
• Flexible to work across day, evening, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation for patients as requested by chefs.
• Clean all kitchen surfaces, equipment and appliances including ovens and range-hoods.
• Wash dishes, utensils and large pots.
• Receive, store and stock food deliveries; provide cover for the storeperson when needed.

An opportunity is now available for experienced kitchen hands to join our Patient Food Preparation team at Cabrini Hospital Malvern. This position assists in the preparation of food for our patients and maintenance of kitchen areas. The successful applicant needs to be prepared to work a variety of shifts including day and evening shifts across the week, weekends and public holidays as required. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the patient care experience.

Your role

• Assisting in food preparation and retrieving of food items as requested by the chefs
• Cleaning all surface areas, kitchen equipment and appliances including ovens and range-hoods
• Washing dishes, including utensils and large pots, as well as other cooking equipment
• Removing rubbish and wash out bins
• Receiving and storing of food deliveries (heavy lifting involved) and providing coverage for the storeperson where required

About you

• Be reliable, team-oriented and committed to safe practices and quality standards
• Hold a Food Handler's Certificate (or willing to undertake at Cabrini)
• Have knowledge of culinary and nutritional terminology including diet codes (preferable)
• Have effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive and professional working relationships
• Be adaptable to work flexibly and efficiently in a fast paced environment with ability to perform heavy lifting as required
