Job summary

Eureka Group Holdings is seeking a Kitchen Hand at our Cairns village to support the Chef and village team, delivering nutritious, home-style meals and keeping the kitchen clean and safe for residents.

You will assist with meal preparation, wash dishes, clean areas, and follow food safety and WHS procedures while engaging positively with residents in a welcoming village environment.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen, hospitality or cleaning experience preferred.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
• Reliable, organised and able to follow procedures.
• Enjoy teamwork and respectful resident interactions.
• Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain.

Are you reliable, hands-on and enjoy being part of a team where your work makes a genuine difference? We're looking for a Kitchen Hand to join our team at our Cairns village. Supporting our Chef and broader village team, you'll play an important role in helping us provide nutritious, home-style meals while maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming kitchen environment for our residents.

What's the role?

Reporting to the Village Manager and working closely with the Chef and village team, you'll help keep our kitchen running smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Chef with meal preparation and service
• Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Cleaning and sanitising food preparation and dining areas
• Supporting the safe storage, labelling and rotation of food
• Following food safety, WHS and chemical handling procedures
• Engaging positively and respectfully with residents and contributing to a welcoming village environment

• Have previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality or cleaning environment, although this is desirable rather than essential
• Understand the importance of food hygiene, safe food handling and maintaining high standards of cleanliness
• Are reliable, organised and comfortable following procedures and instructions
• Enjoy working as part of a team and interacting respectfully with residents
• Hold a Food Handling Certificate, or are willing to obtain one
