Cygnet Group is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for Oaklands to support a residential service in Hexham. You will work 40 hours weekly across 10-hour shifts, handling meal prep, dishwashing, stock checks, and hygiene compliance under supervision.

The role suits someone passionate about catering with care experience, committed to teamwork, and maintaining the highest cleanliness standards. DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately.
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic.
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Oaklands. Oaklands is a specialist residential service with nursing, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs in Hexham, Northumberland. The team support individuals who have additional mental or physical health needs and behaviours that may challenge.

You'll be working full time 40 hours a week, working 10 hour shifts 8am to 6pm on a rota basis.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
