Job summary

Jindalee Aged Care Residence – Narrabundah ACT is seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our kitchen team. This casual role supports meal preparation and distribution to residents, collaborates with staff to ensure meals are served on time, and maintains high food safety and cleanliness standards.

Ideally you have experience in aged care or hospitality, knowledge of HACCP, and a certificate in commercial cookery. Availability to work weekends is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in aged care or hospitality settings.
• Knowledge of HACCP food safety principles.
• Desirable: Certificate in Commercial Cookery.
• Desirable: Food safety course completed.
• Knowledge of kitchen operations and staff management.
• Availability to work weekends.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals within set timeframes.

About the role:

As the Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting with the preparation and distribution of all meals to residents
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure meals are delivered on time
• Ensuring the high quality of food is maintained
• Managing specific dietary requirements when preparing food
• Maintaining a safe and clean kitchen workspace

To be considered you will need the following:

• Experience in aged care or in the hospitality industry
