Job summary

STP Consultants in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley is seeking a Junior Structural Draftsperson to start a career in engineering. You’ll work alongside seasoned engineers and drafters, gaining hands-on experience on real projects across Queensland.

You don’t need years of experience. If you’re a Year 12 student, a recent graduate, or studying Residential Drafting at TAFE, you’re encouraged to apply. The role focuses on learning, collaboration and developing practical drafting skills from day one.

Qualifications

• Year 12 student, recent school leaver, or studying Residential Drafting or equivalent at TAFE.
• Genuinely interested in structural drafting, design and engineering.
• Curious and keen to learn new skills.
• Detail-oriented and take pride in producing accurate work.
• A good communicator who is comfortable asking questions and taking feedback.
• Reliable, organised and willing to have a go at new challenges.
• Someone who enjoys working with others and being part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing structural drawings, plans and project documentation.
• Work with engineers and experienced drafters to produce clear, accurate and high-quality drawings.
• Learn industry standards, guidelines and best-practice drafting processes.
• Develop your understanding of how structural engineering projects are designed and delivered.
• Participate in project discussions and meetings to build your understanding of project requirements.
• Carry out basic drawing and documentation checks with guidance from experienced team members.
• Take on more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
