Job summary

A.B. Paterson College invites Expressions of Interest for Learning Assistants to support the Junior School in 2027.

You will work with teachers to back learning, wellbeing and engagement, helping students achieve their personal best in a supportive, inclusive setting. Responsibilities include classroom assistance, resource preparation and collaboration with staff to support diverse learning needs, pastoral care and safe, caring school culture.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Education Support (or higher) is required.
• Blue Card or Queensland College of Teachers registration is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Strong organisational and ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion and child safety.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the delivery of learning programs and classroom activities.
• Assist in preparation and organisation of learning resources and classroom materials.
• Provide academic, social and emotional support to students in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support students with diverse learning needs, including implementing individual adjustments and learning support strategies.
• Assist with behaviour support and pastoral care initiatives in collaboration with teachers and College staff.
• Contribute to a safe, caring and supportive College community where every student is known, valued and supported.
