Job summary

KBR in Sydney, NSW is seeking a Junior Naval Architect to support CLCM engineering activities, working with Senior Naval Architects and SMEs. You will contribute to hull design, hydrodynamics, and stability tasks, gaining mentorship and real-world defence project experience.

The role offers on-site work with opportunities to develop skills in risk-based technical recommendations, naval standards, and engineering governance within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) and Chartered Engineer eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years related experience in Naval Architecture.
• Eligible for ITAR clearance for ship systems.
• Active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
• Candidates with Baseline Clearance or higher only.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Naval Architecture expertise and technical advice under supervision.
• Perform tasks directed by the ACSSPO Principal Engineer.
• Ensure engineering work complies with policy, plans and processes.
• Develop tasking statements for design tasks per schedule.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team on design solutions, configuration management, and safety.
