Job summary

CARE in Collingwood is seeking a Junior ECC Veterinary Nurse on a permanent part-time basis. The role offers flexible hours and above-award remuneration, with a strong emphasis on learning Emergency and Critical Care in a supportive team.

You will be mentored by experienced ECC nurses and veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience across triage, anesthesia, and diagnostic procedures in a busy Emergency department.

Qualifications

• Cert IV qualified Veterinary Nurse.
• Willingness to learn ECC and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing compassionate and holistic nursing care to emergency and hospitalised patients.
• Learning and developing triage skills to maintain workflow through the hospital.
• Assisting with procedures, anaesthesia, and surgery under guidance and supervision.
• Exposure to specialists in emergency, medicine and surgery.
• Sample collection and in-house laboratory testing, complemented by advanced diagnostic tools including ultrasound, endoscopy and CT.
• Undertake front-desk duties outside of normal reception hours and provide support to clients via telephone.

The role

This position is permanent part time with flexible hours, we are happy to work with the successful applicant to support a healthy work-life balance. Shifts may include a mix of day, evening, overnight, and weekend work. Our rosters are designed to support learning and wellbeing, with above award remuneration and significant shift loadings for all shifts worked outside standard weekday daytime hours.
