Job summary

APD Global is seeking a Cost Controller to join our Finance team in Australia, working on major transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects.

You will apply Earned Value Management, contract administration, and SAP to deliver cost reports and forecasts, coordinating with procurement and project teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management.
  • High attention to detail with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Contract administration exposure, including practical use of standard contracts.
  • MS Office proficiency and experience with SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control costs across project lifecycle.
  • Support cost management programmes and reflect project performance.
  • Deliver cost reports on time following project controls guidelines.
  • Develop project budgets aligned with estimates.
  • Produce updates to cost forecasts.
  • Issue change orders/variations and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation with procurement and time-capture teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and controlling cost activities through project lifecycle
  • Supporting the implementation of project cost management programmes that provide an accurate reflection of project performance
  • Ensuring that cost reports are delivered on time and within the guidelines of the project controls processes and procedures
  • Developing project budgets in accordance with project estimate
  • Producing updates to project cost forecasts
  • Issuing project change orders/variations
  • Liaise with project management, project planning and others as required to ensure accuracy in project cost phasing and forecasting
  • Liaise with procurement, finance and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costs.
  • Ensure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with approved project cost
  • Assess and communicate cost and schedule impact of change notifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in relevant technical or business discipline or can be substituted by suitable industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management
  • High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Contract administration exposure, including the practical application of AS standard forms of contracts
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS office skills (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and prior experience with SAP highly regarded.
  • Work on major transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects across Australia
