Job summary

Australian Ground Technologies – Rouse Hill NSW is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer to support retaining wall design and construction across Sydney projects. You will work with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and our construction team to design, plan, coordinate and deliver retaining wall projects from start to finish.

The role offers hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering, PLAXIS modelling and site inspections, with mentoring from senior engineers and opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• A Civil Engineering degree or relevant qualification.
• 0–3 years' experience in civil or structural construction/engineering.
• Interest in retaining wall design and geotechnical engineering.
• PLAXIS experience or exposure is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and engineering of retaining walls.
• Assist with geotechnical assessments and calculations.
• Use PLAXIS for geotechnical modelling and analysis.
• Support stability analysis and retaining wall design.
• Review drawings, plans and project specifications.
• Support with site set-out, levels, measurements and inspections.
• Monitor construction activities and on-site progress.
• Assist with design changes and technical queries during construction.
• Prepare and maintain engineering and construction documentation.
• Assist with ITPs, QA/QC documentation and project records.
• Assist with quantities, material take-offs and progress claims.
• Check construction works against approved drawings and specs.
• Liaise with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Identify issues and assist with practical solutions.
• Prepare technical reports and project correspondence.
• Maintain focus on safety, quality and compliance.
