Job summary

Glencore Australia is seeking an experienced Jumbo Operator for the George Fisher Mine Development team in Mount Isa. This residential role operates on a 7/7 day and night roster, allowing you to return home daily while contributing to safe mining and ground support installation.

Reporting to the Supervisor – Development, you will mine to design and schedule, maintain equipment, and complete shift reports. A strong safety record and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience operating Jumbo development drills.
• Australian manual driver"s license.
• Experience operating Sandvik Axera 7, DD420 or DD421 development drills.
• Strong safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely mining to design, on grade, on line and on time.
• Demonstrating safety leadership and adhering to site procedures.
• Operating equipment in a manner that minimises damage and reporting issues.
• Washing down equipment and maintaining a clean, safe work area.
• Completing accurate shift reports and ensuring effective shift handovers.
• Mentoring and knowledge sharing to support a positive team culture.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Jumbo Operator to join our Development team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor – Development, you will be responsible for safely operating Jumbo development drills to mine headings and install ground support in accordance with mine standards, while contributing to a strong safety and performance focused team culture.

This residential role based in Mount Isa operates on a 7/7 continuous rotating day and night shift roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle benefits of the local community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Safely mining to design, on grade, on line and on time
• Demonstrating safety leadership and adhering to site procedures, including correct use of signage and barricading
• Operating equipment in a manner that minimises damage and promptly reporting any equipment issues
• Washing down equipment and maintaining a clean and safe work area
• Completing accurate shift reports and ensuring effective shift handovers
• Supporting a positive team culture through accountability, mentoring and knowledge sharing

The successful candidate will possess:

• A current Australian manual driver's licence
• Significant experience (4+ years preferred) operating Jumbo development drills
• Experience operating equipment such as Sandvik Axera 7, DD420 or DD421 development drills
• A strong safety record and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
• A high level of attention to detail with the ability to work accurately to design and schedule
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture
• Flexibility, adaptability and a proactive approach to work
• The ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screening
