Job summary

Mount Isa Mines seeks a results-focused Jumbo Operator for the George Fisher Mine in Mount Isa. This residential role operates on a 7/7 day/night roster, drilling headings and installing ground support to mine standards while upholding safety and performance culture.

The successful candidate will have a current Australian manual driver’s licence and 4+ years of Jumbo development drilling experience, plus a track record of safe work practices and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Jumbo development drilling experience
• Current Australian manual driver's licence
• Experience with Sandvik Axera 7, DD420 or DD421
• Strong safety record and safe work practices
• Attention to detail and ability to work to design/schedule
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible, adaptable and proactive
• Able to pass pre-employment medical incl. drug/alcohol screening

The Role

We are seeking a results-focused and experienced Jumbo Operator to join the Development team at our George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor - Development, this residential role based in Mount Isa operates on a 7/7 continuous rotating day and night shift roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle benefits of the local community.

In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating Jumbo development drills to mine headings and install ground support in accordance with mine standards, while contributing to a strong safety and performance focused team culture.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Safely mining to design, on grade, on line and on time
• Demonstrating safety leadership and adhering to site procedures, including correct use of signage and barricading
• Operating equipment in a manner that minimises damage and promptly reporting any equipment issues
• Washing down equipment and maintaining a clean and safe work area
• Completing accurate shift reports and ensuring effective communication of information during shift handovers
• Contributing to a positive team culture through accountability, mentoring and supporting the development and coaching of team members

The successful candidate will possess:

• A current Australian manual driver's licence
• Significant experience (4+ years preferred) operating Jumbo development drills
• Experience operating equipment such as Sandvik Axera 7, DD420 or DD421 development drills
• A strong safety record and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
• A high level of attention to detail with the ability to work accurately to design and schedule
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture
• Flexibility, adaptability and a proactive approach to work
• The ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
