Job summary

Skillfield, a specialist technology consultancy, seeks a Java developer in Melbourne on a 1-year hybrid contract. You will design and build high-performance Java microservices that process real-time network data at scale, across the full software lifecycle.

You’ll work in a small engineering team that collaborates, reviews code, and tackles challenging problems together. You’ll bring strong Java experience with Spring Boot, Docker and Kubernetes, plus experience with CI/CD and databases.

Qualifications

• Strong Java experience with API and microservice deployment.
• Experience processing high-performance network protocols.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, MongoDB, MongoDB, ClickHouse).
• Experience with CI/CD and code quality tools (Bamboo, Bitbucket/GitLab, SonarQube, Veracode).
• Experience with Golang and API gateways (WSO2/NGINX).
• Australian citizenship and NV1 clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design and build reliable Java services across platforms.
• Autonomously make design decisions and review peers' code.
• Translate product requirements into user stories and tasks.
• Automate build, test and deployment pipelines.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose improvements.
• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to shape solutions.
• Produce clear technical documentation.
• Identify and resolve delivery risks early.
