Zusammenfassung

Data Knowhow in Canberra is seeking an experienced Java Developer for a Canberra-based federal government client. You will support the Team Leader in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade software within the ICT environment, with hybrid work and up to 40 hours per week.

The role requires active Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance, and start date around 15 October 2026, with initial contract through 30 June 2027 and possible extension.

Qualifikationen

• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high quality, robust and scalable enterprise level software solutions using Java and Java EE.
• Knowledge and experience in setting priorities and delivering quality results on time and on budget
• Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs across a geographically dispersed network.
• Analytical abilities with the ability to propose and facilitate change and contribute to business improvement strategies.
• Personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
• Expertise in software version upgrades
• Knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice (or ability to gain quickly)
• Knowledge of Commonwealth ICT frameworks (or ability to gain quickly)

• Enhance and improve existing software, including designing, developing, implementing, and testing software systems, in line with business requirements and standards.
• Collaborate with other teams, investigate and resolve issues with the operation of an application.
• Addressing errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure desired results.
• Perform revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
• Provide a high standard of technical and design documentation.
• Assist in developing specialist and technical expertise to junior developers.
• Contribute to project progress reporting and governance processes.
• Develop and support key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve goals.
• Make decisions with good judgement, governance by legislation and procedures.
• Contribute to doctrine, election preparation, and delivery activities under the election readiness framework.
• Perform additional duties as directed; workload may increase during peak periods.
