Job summary

Capital Talent Consulting is seeking an experienced Java Developer to contribute to the development, maintenance and modernisation of enterprise applications within a federal government environment. The role is Canberra-based with hybrid working available, and requires on-site presence at the Canberra office.

You will design, develop, implement and test Java applications, maintain existing software, investigate issues and produce technical documentation while collaborating with delivery teams

Working under limited direction, you’ll enhance and support business-critical systems, investigate application issues and deliver robust software aligned with business needs and development standards. You’ll collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to support reliable services and time-critical operational activities.

About the role

You will:

Design, develop, implement and test Java applications and enhancements.

Maintain and improve existing software to increase efficiency and meet changing requirements.

Contract and working arrangements

The anticipated start date is 15 December 2026, with the initial contract running to 30 June 2027 and one possible 12-month extension. The role is based at a Canberra office, with hybrid working available. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Canberra; relocation or long-distance commuting arrangements will not be considered.

Security clearance

Candidates must hold an active NV1 security clearance before commencement.
