Hoban Recruitment seeks a Japanese-speaking Junior Accountant to join a growing team in Sydney. This role offers hybrid work, structured training, and mentorship, with clear career progression toward becoming an Accountant or Senior Accountant.

Ideal for someone with 1–3 years’ accounting experience and fluent Japanese. The position focuses on bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting support, with opportunities to work closely with both Japanese and local businesses.

Qualifications

• Fluent or business-level Japanese language ability.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Accounting qualification (Diploma, Bachelor’s or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience using accounting software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process daily accounting transactions and journal entries.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices.
• Process supplier invoices and payments.
• Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding accounts.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile supplier statements and balance sheet accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly management reports and financial statements.
• Support BAS preparation and other compliance reporting requirements.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end processes.
• Assist senior accountants with audit preparation.
• Support payroll processing activities.
• Provide general administrative and ad hoc support as required.
