Job summary

PERSOL is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a permanent full-time position in Brisbane CBD. The role supports day-to-day accounting, financial reporting and month-end processes within a professional, supportive environment. Experience in a Japanese business setting is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities include AP/AR, cash flow, month-end close, GL reconciliations and statutory reporting. Candidates with Australian accounting experience and ERP familiarity are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree or equivalent in Accounting/Commerce/Finance.
• CPA/CA qualification is desirable but not essential.
• 3–5 years of accounting or assistant accountant experience.
• Solid understanding of Australian accounting standards and reporting.
• Strong Excel and ERP experience; Dynamics 365 BC advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable including payment processing and receipts.
• Support cash flow management and banking activities.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain general ledger reconciliations and accurate financial records.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for management.
• Assist with external audits and respond to auditor requests.
• Support BAS, GST, FBT and other statutory reporting.
• Liaise with stakeholders and service providers on finance queries.
• Assist with accounting system improvements and process enhancements.
• Provide broader finance team support as required.

Our client, a well-established Japanese organisation, is currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team in Brisbane CBD. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end processes. Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including payment processing and receipt allocation.
• Support cash flow management and banking activities.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for management review.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and related accounting records.
• Assist with external audit processes and act as a point of contact for auditor requests.
• Support tax compliance activities, including BAS, GST, FBT, and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers to resolve finance-related queries.
• Assist with accounting system enhancement and process improvement initiatives.
• Provide administrative and accounting support to the broader finance team as required.

Skills & Experience

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified, or working towards completion, is desirable but not essential.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or assistant accountant position.
• Solid understanding of Australian accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using ERP systems is highly regarded.
• Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Japanese language capability is advantageous but not essential.
