Job summary

PERSOL is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a permanent, full-time role in Brisbane CBD. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and month-end processes within a Japanese business environment.

Prior exposure to Japanese business practices is encouraged, with variety across AP/AR, cash flow, and statutory reporting. Key responsibilities include month-end closes, asset registers, audits, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified, or working towards completion, is desirable but not essential.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or assistant accountant position.
• Solid understanding of Australian accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using ERP systems is highly regarded.
• Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Japanese language capability is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including payment processing and receipt allocation.
• Support cash flow management and banking activities.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for management review.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and related accounting records.
• Assist with external audit processes and act as a point of contact for auditor requests.
• Support tax compliance activities, including BAS, GST, FBT, and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers to resolve finance-related queries.
• Assist with accounting system enhancement and process improvement initiatives.
• Provide administrative and accounting support to the broader finance team as required.
