Job summary

HOBAN is seeking a Japanese-speaking Junior Accountant to join a growing team in a hybrid Sydney office. The role is suitable for professionals with 1–3 years of accounting experience who want to develop technical accounting skills and advance their careers.

You will receive structured training, hands-on learning, and mentorship from experienced accountants. Key responsibilities include bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, and supporting monthly reporting and BAS preparation.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Japanese and English where required.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Process daily accounting transactions and journal entries.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and data integrity.
• Reconcile monthly accounts and assist with month-end processes.
• Assist with BAS preparation and financial reporting.
• Provide support to senior accountants and payroll activities.

We are currently seeking a Japanese-Speaking Junior Accountant to join a growing and dynamic team. This position is ideal for someone with 1 to 3 years of accounting experience who is eager to develop their technical accounting skills and build a long-term career in the profession. Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing

• Process daily accounting transactions and journal entries
• Maintain accurate general ledger records
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Prepare and issue customer invoices
• Process supplier invoices and payments
• Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding accounts

Reconciliations

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Reconcile supplier statements and balance sheet accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies

Financial Reporting Support

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements
• Support BAS preparation and other compliance reporting requirements
• Contribute to month-end and year-end processes

Team Support

• Assist senior accountants with audit preparation
• Support payroll processing activities
• Provide general administrative and ad hoc support as required

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Native or business-level Japanese language skills
• Strong understanding of Japanese business culture and communication styles
• 1 to 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Accounting qualification (Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent) preferred
• Experience using accounting software is advantageous
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
