Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks an Itinerant Support Teacher – Vision to make the curriculum accessible for students with vision disabilities. The role covers preschools to senior high schools and requires travel across regional NSW.

Strong collaboration with staff, parents and external agencies is essential. The successful candidate will teach braille and relevant assistive technologies, co-develop personalised learning plans, and provide professional learning for school staff.

Qualifications

• Unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
• Approval to teach Visual Impairment (Primary) and Visual Impairment (Secondary).
• High level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies.
• Experience in teaching the use of braille, assistive technology and associated software including iOS applications to support access to the curriculum.
