About the role

The NSW Department of Education is seeking an experienced and passionate technology leader to join our Information Technology Directorate as the IT Disaster Recovery, Resilience & Major Incident Manager.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the Department's IT resilience, disaster recovery and major incident capability across a large and complex technology environment relied upon by hundreds of thousands of students, teachers and staff across New South Wales.

As the IT Disaster Recovery, Resilience & Major Incident Manager, you will provide strategic leadership, direction and governance for the organisation's technology resilience and recovery capability. You will play a critical role in ensuring that critical technology services are prepared to withstand, respond to and recover from significant disruptions.

You will lead the ongoing uplift of disaster recovery and resilience capability, establish effective recovery standards and governance, strengthen operational readiness, and drive continuous improvement across critical technology services.

A key component of the role will be leading and coordinating the Department's approach to major incident management, ensuring that significant technology disruptions are managed effectively, stakeholders are appropriately engaged, recovery efforts are coordinated, and lessons learned translate into meaningful improvements.

Working closely with architects, platform owners, cyber security specialists, infrastructure teams, application teams, technology enablement and service management professionals, you will provide expert advice and influence enterprise-wide outcomes that reduce organisational risk and strengthen the resilience and recoverability of technology services.

You will also partner with senior technology leaders to identify resilience risks, address capability gaps, strengthen recovery strategies and ensure that the Department is operationally prepared to respond when critical technology services are disrupted.

This is a role where your leadership will have a tangible impact — helping ensure the technology that supports NSW education remains resilient, recoverable and fit for purpose.
