Job summary

ING is seeking an exceptional technology leader to drive transformation in its Australian digital lending initiatives. The IT Area Lead will define strategy, steer enterprise-scale programs, and partner with senior executives to deliver value.

You will build high-performing teams, champion Agile and DevOps, embrace AI-driven innovation, and ensure secure, resilient platforms aligned with ING's One Way of Working.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior technology executive with a proven track record leading large-scale transformations and delivering complex, enterprise-wide technology programs. As IT Area Lead , you will define and execute the Tribe's technology strategy, leading the delivery of innovative technology solutions that drive business success while fostering ING's engineering culture and One Way of Working.

Reporting to the Head of Technology Retail , you will partner with senior business leaders, Tribe Leads, and Architecture teams to deliver a portfolio of strategic initiatives, lead high-performing technology teams, and ensure the security, stability, and continuous evolution of critical technology platforms.

What you'll do ...

• Lead end-to-end delivery across the Tribe, ensuring technology changes are executed efficiently, successfully, and delivers measurable business value.
• Partner with Tribe Leadership to define and execute a technology strategy that supports ING's objectives and accelerates innovation.
• Build and inspire high-performing engineering teams, fostering a strong culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous development.
• Drive Agile and continuous delivery practices to improve speed, quality, predictability, and customer outcomes.
• Ensure all technology solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
• Own the health, stability, risk, security, and lifecycle management of the Tribe's technology assets and applications.

What we're looking for....

• Senior leadership experience delivering complex lending platform transformations, with a proven ability to lead large engineering, technology, and delivery teams through significant change.
• Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide transformation programs, modernising technology landscapes, reshaping delivery models, and embedding new ways of working to improve speed, quality, and customer outcomes.
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies, including AI and automation, and experience leveraging these capabilities to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experiences.
• Deep expertise in modern engineering and technology practices, including Agile, DevOps, cloud technologies, application modernisation, and large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategy, aligning business priorities, architecture direction, risk management, and operational excellence to achieve sustainable outcomes.
• Exceptional executive stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to engage, challenge, and partner effectively with C-suite leaders and senior business stakeholders.
• A track record of building high-performing teams and empowering engineering cultures, while successfully managing strategic vendor relationships and complex delivery portfolios.
