Job summary

InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef is seeking a Village Cook to join our culinary team on Hayman Island. You will prepare and serve meals for our colleague dining facility, maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and safety.

You will work with a dedicated team to cater for up to 400 guests, handle dietary requirements, and contribute to a positive, collaborative culture in a luxury five-star setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Commercial Cookery.
• Experience catering for up to 400 guests per service.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Extensive recipe and ingredient knowledge to produce a diverse range of dishes.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a remote island environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking meals for our colleague dining facility.
• Ensuring food is consistently presented and served to a high standard.
• Catering for dietary requirements and cultural preferences.
• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Supporting stock rotation, inventory management and waste minimisation.
• Assisting with kitchen cleaning and operational duties.
