AKG Australia is seeking an ISEP Youth Coach to deliver the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program, supporting young people with barriers to employment. You will manage caseloads, conduct initial assessments, and connect participants to education and training opportunities.

With strong organisational and communication skills, you will engage with schools and the local community, providing pre- and post-employment support in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Formación

• Track record delivering employment or community/non-vocational services to clients.
• Formal qualification in Mental Health, Youth Work, Community Services, or related field.
• Mental Health First Aid is desirable.
• Experience in Youth Work, Community Services or Employment Services is desirable.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver Indigenous Skills and Employment Program successfully.
• Manage a caseload of participants facing barriers to employment.
• Support participants to participate and plan personal journeys.
• Conduct initial assessments to identify goals.
• Attend local secondary schools to share information about ISEP.
• Engage with local community youth.

Whilst important, our role has shifted focusing on providing work opportunities, fostering and creating small enterprises, supporting emerging businesses, and supporting government objectives - assisting communities to plan for and RISE to the challenge of self-determination.

This is an Identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted by and arguable under section 25 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

A day in the life of a ISEP Youth Coach can include:

• Successfully deliver the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program
• Manage a caseload of participants who have vocational, and non-vocational barriers to employment/study/health services.
• Ensure participants can participate and develop their personal journeys
• Conduct initial assessments of participants to identify short- and long-term goals
• Attend local secondary schools to provide information to staff and students about ISEP
• Engage with young people in the local community
• Support participants to access education and training opportunities
• Provide pre-employment and post-employment support and training to participants
• Participate in local community, employment and networking events and forums

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated record of success in delivering employment and or community/non-vocational services to clients
• A formal qualification, minimum Mental Health. Youth Work, Community Services, Career Development or equivalent
• Mental Health First Aid (Desirable)
• Previous experience in Youth Work, Community Services or Employment Services (Desirable)
• Well-developed organisational and time-management skills
• Highly developed communication and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated record of success in delivering employment and or community/non-vocational services to clients

• Have full working rights in Australia
• Have a current driver's licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
• Complete an Australia History Criminal Check
• Have a current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check before employment
• Ability to work Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm
