Job summary

The City of Adelaide is seeking a Leading Hand, Irrigation to care for Adelaide’s Park Lands, gardens and streetscapes. You’ll lead a four‑person team, plan and schedule work, operate irrigation equipment and mentor staff to deliver high‑quality horticultural outcomes.

You will ensure safe practices, WHS compliance and continuous improvement while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the city’s sustainable growth and beautification.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Amenity Horticulture (Cert III+).
• Cold Water Plumbers Ticket.
• Ability to read Amenity/Horticultural/Irrigation drawings.
• Experience leading horticultural teams.
• Self-motivated and results oriented.

Responsibilities

• Lead and schedule work for a small team of 4.
• Operate specialised horticultural equipment.
• Coordinate irrigation systems for events.
• Ensure safe work practices and WHS compliance.
• Support collaboration across teams to improve turf quality.
