Job summary

The State Government of Victoria is seeking an Irrigation Extension Officer to support the Goulburn Broken Irrigation Team in delivering sustainable irrigation practices. The role offers hybrid work and is based in Tatura, Echuca or Rutherglen with a fixed term until 30 June 2028.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Agricultural Science/Natural Resource Management/Environmental Management/Science or equivalent.
• Experience supporting Victoria's agriculture sector with irrigated agriculture knowledge.
• Strong project planning, coordination and evaluation skills.
• Ability to develop cooperative relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Prominent communication and interpersonal skills including group facilitation.
• Time management and self-starter with willingness to learn.
• Comfort with using a range of technology/software applications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement best practice farm irrigation systems.
• Work with irrigators to plan and deliver improvements.
• Manage key relationships with industry partners and stakeholders.
• Contribute to irrigation efficiency outcomes across the catchment as part of a whole-farm approach.
• Balance office and field-based work within a supportive technical team.
