Rombola Family Farms is seeking an Irrigation Designer/Manager to oversee irrigation operations in Griffith, NSW and other sites. You will ensure efficient irrigation system operation, repair duties, and alignment with production plans to meet market timing and quality targets.

The role requires coordination with Grower and Agronomist, maintaining equipment, and promoting water-use efficiency. A strong background in horticulture/agriculture and WH&S knowledge are valued.

Qualificações

• Qualifications in Horticulture and / or Agriculture is highly desired.
• Experience coordinating and managing irrigation in a medium to large enterprise.
• ChemCert certification is preferred.
• Experience with time management, scheduling and planning irrigation programs.
• Ability to liaise with agronomists, consultants and suppliers on irrigation matters.
• Experience communicating at all levels with stakeholders.
• Mechanical aptitude for maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.
• Sound computer literacy and familiarity with irrigation control systems and smart farming tech.
• Good foundational knowledge of plant growth.
• Flexibility in hours to meet operational targets.
• Knowledge of WH&S requirements.

About the Role:

Rombola Family Farms is seeking for Irrigation Designer/Manager for its operations in Griffith in NSW, Bundaberg in QLD, Mataranka and Douglas-Daly in the NT.The role of the Irrigation Designer/Manager is to ensure that Rombola Family Farms irrigation system is operated efficiently and in accordance with the company schedule. The position requires to maintain and repair irrigation systems including replacing valves, fan belts, switches, and contacts.

Key operational accountabilities include:

• Manage and optimise all irrigation infrastructure, ensuring systems operate efficiently to support crop performance and water-use efficiency.
• Coordinate irrigation scheduling in collaboration with the Grower and Agronomist, monitoring plant growth, soil moisture and crop health.
• Maintain irrigation equipment, pumps and systems, including troubleshooting, servicing and repairs.
• Contribute to production planning including varietal selection, crop scheduling and production systems to meet market timing, quality and volume targets.
• Lead and support operational staff through supervision, training and performance development while fostering a strong team culture.
• Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety, chemical handling and company operational procedures while promoting continuous improvement across the operation.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

• Qualifications in Horticulture and / or Agriculture is highly desired.
• A work history that highlights irrigation coordination and management in a medium to large enterprise.
• ChemCert Certification is preferred.
• Experience with time management, work scheduling and planning irrigation programs.
• Ability to liaise with agronomists, consultants and suppliers on a range of irrigation matters.
• Experience in providing advice to management and the ability to communicate at all level.
• Mechanical aptitude that highlights experience maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.
• Sound computer literacy skills and experience with irrigation control systems and a flair for technology that enabling us to achieve smart and sustainable farming practices.
• A good general foundation in the knowledge of plant growth.
• Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
• Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
