Job summary

GWA Group is recruiting an IoT Developer to join the Platform and IoT team at Prestons. You will develop and support Azure IoT solutions across devices, gateways and cloud platforms, focusing on CT-200 and Raspberry Pi gateways.

The role involves firmware improvements, testing, security, and knowledge transfer from an external partner. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, helping to establish GWA’s in-house IoT capability and supporting ongoing technical delivery and

Qualifications

• Three years or more software/IoT development experience.
• Experience with connected devices, firmware, and device-based tech.
• Exposure to Azure IoT or similar cloud IoT platform.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi or comparable gateway hardware.
• Knowledge of IoT sensors, Bluetooth or related protocols.
• Experience testing software, firmware or connected devices.
• Ability to work across project delivery and ongoing technical support.

Responsibilities

IoT Developer

• Work across Azure IoT, Raspberry Pi, firmware and connected devices
• Help bring GWA's IoT development capability in-house

About the role

Join GWA's Platform and IoT team and help develop the technology supporting our Smart Command platform.

You'll work across two gateway environments: the CT-200 gateway used in standard office deployments and the Raspberry Pi-based gateway.

You'll initially focus on knowledge transfer from our current development partner before taking greater ownership of firmware development, security and ongoing support.

What you'll be doing

Desirable experience

• Embedded Linux, including Yocto-based platforms
• Docker or other containerised applications
• MQTT and AMQP messaging protocols
• OTA software update mechanisms

Location

This role is based at GWA's Prestons site, providing access to the devices, gateways and testing environment required for hands-on development.
