Job summary

MUJI Retail Australia is seeking an Inventory Controller to optimise stock across our stores and support supply processes. You will work with internal teams to ensure the right products are available at the right time, reducing excess inventory and improving sales performance.

You will analyse sales trends, coordinate with warehouses, and help drive continuous improvements in stock control, forecasting, and store collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the MS Office Suite, with a track record of high data accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data, resolve discrepancies, and make data-driven operational decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport across store teams, warehouse personnel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet strict deadlines, and work independently.
  • Administration or retail experience with an understanding of the stock allocation process, inventory forecasting or supply chain workflows is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Retail Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and updating allocation plans based on sales trends and store needs, maintaining optimal stock balance across all stores.
  • Monitoring daily and weekly sales to perform sell-through analysis on seasonal lines, generate monthly volume forecasts for stakeholders, and report inventory insights to drive timely decision‑making.
  • Partnering with warehouse operations to prioritise order receiving, processing, and shipping to protect store inventory levels and support sales trends.
  • Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, implementing corrective actions, and identifying enhancements to maintain data accuracy and improve stock control.
  • Partnering with store teams on pricing, promotions, and inventory enquiries, conducting regular store visits and collaborating with Merchandisers to analyse performance and drive sales growth.

About the Role

As an Inventory Controller, you will play a key role in optimising our inventory and supply processes. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure our stores have the right stock at the right time to maximise sales, reduce excess inventory, and help our store teams deliver an exceptional customer experience. In this collaborative role, you will directly support our retail stores, streamline day-to-day operations, and drive continuous improvement activities to support MUJI’s long‑term growth. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
