Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council is offering a paid internship as part of the My Summer Workplace program. The Intern - Marketing will gain hands-on experience across marketing and communications, supporting campaigns, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.

The 12-week role runs November 2026 to February 2027, at 28 hours per week across four days, with a short Christmas break. Applicants must have current Australian working rights and be available for the assessment centre.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or recently graduated from university/TAFE within 12 months.
  • Be available to work four days per week during the 12-week program (Nov 2026–Feb 2027).
  • Have Australian working rights (Permanent Resident or visa with unrestricted rights).
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and publishing content across social media, websites, and digital channels.
  • Support the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns and community engagement activities.
  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, articles, promotional materials, and digital platforms.
  • Collect and analyse marketing and digital performance data to help improve audience engagement.

About My Summer Workplace

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career.

Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About you:

  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
  • Possess Australian working rights:
  • Permanent Resident
  • Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
