Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council offers a 12-week paid internship called My Summer Workplace, starting November 2026 and finishing February 2027. The program provides admin and operational support to the Fleet Management team, with four days per week work and a two-week unpaid Christmas break.

You will be mentored by industry professionals, gain exposure to a large regional council, and improve your skills while enjoying access to one of Australia’s best beaches during summer.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects.
  • Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation).
  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation).
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Fleet Management team.
  • Maintain accurate fleet asset records and monitor documentation, utilisation data, and system integrity.
  • Assist with fleet reporting, cost analysis, and data collection to support asset management and operational decisions.
  • Deliver responsive customer service, stakeholder liaison, vehicle handovers, and contribute to continuous process improvements and project support activities.

About My Summer Workplace

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career.

Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About This Internship

Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Fleet Management team, ensuring accurate asset records, effective resource coordination, responsive customer service, and data-driven support for fleet operations and decision-making.

  • Maintain accurate fleet asset records and monitor documentation, utilisation data, and system integrity.
  • Support the administration and coordination of fleet assets, including vehicles, plant, equipment, and contracted hire services.
  • Assist with fleet reporting, cost analysis, and data collection to support asset management and operational decisions.
  • Deliver responsive customer service, stakeholder liaison, vehicle handovers, and contribute to continuous process improvements and project support activities.
About You
  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
  • Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
  • Possess Australian working rights:
    • Citizen (AU/NZ)
    • Permanent Resident
    • Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
