Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council offers a 12-week paid internship, commencing November 2026 and concluding February 2027. You will work four days per week, with a 2-week unpaid break over Christmas, gaining practical experience with the Contracts Delivery team and exposure to GIS, construction and contract management.

You will be mentored by industry professionals, develop project delivery skills, and be part of a large, regional organisation near beautiful beaches.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a tertiary course and has completed 16 or more subjects.
  • Recently graduated from university (within 12 months) or completed a TAFE Diploma within 12 months.
  • Available to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026.
  • Australian working rights: Citizen, Permanent Resident, or current visa with unrestricted working rights for the program duration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with contracts data in GIS for road resurfacing programs.
  • Support engineers and inspectors with site scoping, inspections and data collection.
  • Participate in contractor safety audits and compliance checks under guidance.
  • Provide administrative and project support to contract administrators as required.
  • Contribute to project coordination, documentation, record-keeping and progress tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and council policies, protecting the public image of the Council.
  • Capture and securely use public records in line with Records Management Policy.

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career. Commencing in November 2026 and concluding February 2027, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About This Internship

Turn your studies into practical experience with our Contracts Delivery team. You'll work alongside industry professionals, contribute to infrastructure projects, and develop valuable skills in project delivery, construction, GIS, and contract management. As the Intern – Contracts Delivery, you will gain experience and exposure to:

  • Assist with the finalisation and updating of construction project data within GIS for the road resurfacing program.
  • Support engineers and inspectors with onsite project scoping, site inspections, and data collection activities.
  • Participate in contractor safety audits and compliance checks under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Provide administrative and project support to contract administrators as required.
  • Contribute to project coordination activities, including documentation, record-keeping, and progress tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, Council policies and the highest standards of integrity, always protecting and advancing the public image of Council.
  • Responsible for the compliant capture and secure use of public records in line with Sunshine Coast Council Records Management Policy during the conduct of daily business.
About You
  • Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
  • Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
  • Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
  • Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026
  • Possess Australian working rights:
    • Citizen (AU/NZ)
    • Permanent Resident
    • Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
