Job summary

Geelong Chartered Accounting practice is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join a flat, open-door team with strong client relationships and growth opportunities. The Geelong office has a long-standing community presence and a collaborative structure with direct access to Principals.

Ideal candidates will be CA/CPA in progress, with 2+ years in public practice and a client-facing mindset. Xero familiarity and communication skills are essential for continued growth within the firm.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA studying (or looking to commence)
• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
• 2+ years in a public practice environment
• Familiarity with Xero and other accounting platforms
• Genuine desire to be client facing and progress in your career

Responsibilities

• Preparing financial statements and reports for a diverse range of entities
• Preparing tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships and trusts
• Assisting with BAS, IAS and other taxation and compliance obligations
• Preparing workpapers, reconciliations and supporting documentation for accounting and tax engagements
• Liaising with clients, the ATO, ASIC and other relevant regulatory bodies regarding compliance matters
• Supporting Senior Accountants and Managers with client engagements, tax and accounting matters, and other ad hoc duties

My client is an award-winning Chartered Accounting practice providing tax compliance and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. The Geelong office has been part of the local community for more than 50 years, with the team comprising of3 Principals and around 20 staff. They are now looking to appoint anIntermediate Accountantas part of their continued growth. The office has aflat, collaborative structure, providing direct access to the Principals and a supportive environment where you can continue to develop.

The client base is predominantly made up of sole traders, SMEs and family-owned businesses across a diverse range of industries, including construction, primary production, healthcare, NDIS and hospitality. The firm utilises a range of established accounting and practice management platforms, including Xero, FYI Docs, Ignition, NowInfinity and ATOmate.

You will have key responsibilities which will include:
