Job summary

Wilson Pateras Sydney Pty Ltd – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day financial activities, prepare financial statements and tax returns, and provide guidance to junior staff.

Based in the CBD, the role offers collaboration across departments and mentorship opportunities, with exposure to a diverse client base across personal, business and wealth services. A supportive pathway toward CA/CPA qualification is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Commerce or Business; CA or CPA qualification track or ongoing
• Australian citizen or permanent resident
• Minimum of three years' public practice experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities to meet budgets
• Strong attention to detail and respect for client confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with Active Workpapers, ATO Portal, Xero, XPM, Xero ledger, FYI docs and Now Infinity would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Preparation of financial and management accounts, statutory returns for diverse entities (sole traders, companies, trusts, partnerships)
• Preparation of BAS, IAS and PAYG Instalment variations
• ASIC, Workers' Compensation and STP reporting
• Division 7A calculations and CGT registers; maintain statutory registers for entities
• Liaison with clients and external stakeholders (ATO, Revenue NSW, ASIC, ACNC)
• Assist Managers with complex tax issues and ad hoc technical tasks
• Mentor and train junior staff as needed
• Assist clients with ad hoc accounting and taxation queries
