Job summary

seek.com.au is seeking an efficient accounting assistant to support a small team on a mix of accounting, taxation, and admin tasks.

You will work with senior accountants and clients, handling day-to-day operations, data entry, BAS/IAS preparation, and accounts to trial balance with good attention to detail. Experience with Xero and MS Office is preferred; 1–3 years in accounting or bookkeeping is required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Strong understanding of BAS, GST, and basic compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing individual tax returns (basic to intermediate level).
• Competent with accounting software (Xero preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide reception support including greeting clients, answering calls, and managing general enquiries.
• Perform data entry, document processing, and maintenance of client records.
• Prepare and assist with BAS and IAS.
• Complete accounts to trial balance, including reconciliations and ledger maintenance.
• Prepare individual tax returns under supervision.
• Support workflow management, filing, and general office administration.
• Liaise with clients professionally and promptly to obtain required information.
• Assist senior accountants with ad‑hoc tasks and compliance work as needed.
