Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre is seeking an intelligence officer to gather and assess information for youth justice and corrections. You will turn information into clear intelligence to guide safe decisions.

You will collect, record and analyse risks, incidents and trends and prepare clear reports for senior managers. The role supports intelligence-led operations and requires training and system improvements.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or strong knowledge in a relevant field.
  • Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Intro to Analysis training to be completed within six months.
  • Knowledge of youth justice and corrections and intelligence supports criminal justice work.
  • Sound judgement, communication skills, and teamwork.

About us

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders. CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU) as well as localised prison intelligence units and within Post Sentence Facilities across Victoria.

This position is based primarily at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. There will be a requirement to attend other CV and YJ locations, including other CVIU offices in Ravenhall and Melbourne CBD, as well as other Youth Justice facilities

What you will do

As intelligence officer, you will gather and assess information for youth justice and corrections. You will turn information into clear intelligence that helps guide safe decisions.

You will:

  • collect, record and analyseimportantinformation about risks, incidents and trends
  • prepareclearintelligence reports and briefings for senior managers and authorised agencies
  • supportplannedintelligence-led operations that help manage risks and protect people
  • maintainaccurateregisters, records and systems used to manage intelligence tasks
  • help improve intelligence systems, share your knowledge and support staff through training.
About you

You need relevant tertiary qualifications or strong knowledge in a relevant field. You also need a current Working with Children Check or obtain one before starting.

You need a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or obtain one within 12 months. You must complete the internal Introduction to Analysis training within six months.

You should also have:

  • knowledge of youth justice and corrections, including key issues affecting these services
  • intelligence skillsand an understanding of how intelligence supports criminal justice work
  • strong information skills, including Microsoft Office and information management systems
  • sound judgement and communication skills, with a flexible and inclusive approach to teamwork.
