Job summary

Johns Lyng Group in North Queensland is seeking a Building Supervisor/Project Coordinator to manage a portfolio of residential and commercial insurance repair and restoration projects across Cairns. You will coordinate subcontractors, oversee timelines, budgets and documentation, and maintain clear communication with homeowners, insurers and loss adjusters.

Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, the role blends office-based coordination with regular field time, including

Qualifications

• Experience in building, construction or a relevant trade is essential.
• Ability to coordinate repair or construction works and delivery is required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are needed to interact with homeowners, insurers and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel across the North Queensland region to monitor progress.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors across multiple insurance repair and restoration projects, ensuring safety, timeliness and quality.
• Conduct site visits to review progress, review workmanship and ensure WHS compliance.
• Monitor timelines and costs, manage budgets and margins, and maintain documentation.
• Attend weekly construction meetings and WIP reviews, keeping job files and photos up to date.
• Communicate proactively with homeowners, loss adjusters and insurers.
