Job summary

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a dedicated Instrument Technician to join our Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) on a part-time basis. The role supports safe surgical and procedural care through decontamination, assembly, sterilisation and supply of reusable medical devices across RMH and the Parkville Precinct.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, collect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilise reusable medical devices across RMH and Parkville Precinct.
• Train across key CSSD areas including decontamination, assembly, sterilisation and supply.
• Operate CSSD equipment and package and track instruments per manufacturer instructions and RMH procedures (AS 5369).
• Undertake additional tasks related to CSSD as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager

About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instrument Technician to join our Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).

You'll play an important role in supporting the safe delivery of surgical and procedural care across RMH and the Parkville Precinct through the decontamination, assembly, sterilisation and supply of reusable medical devices.

You'll be trained across key CSSD areas, including Decontamination, Assembly, Sterilisation, Sterile Store, High Level Disinfection and specialist equipment. This is a great opportunity to build your skills and gain broad experience in a highly specialised environment.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver, collect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilise reusable medical devices across RMH and the Parkville Precinct.
• Train across key CSSD areas including decontamination, assembly, sterilisation and supply.
• Operate CSSD equipment and package and track instruments in line with manufacturer instructions, RMH procedures and AS 5369.
• Also, undertake additional task or activity related to CSSD as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager
