Job summary

Al Zahra College in Arncliffe, Sydney, seeks a Primary Islamic Studies Teacher to lead Shia Islamic Studies within the IB Primary Years Programme. Start date 12 October 2026, with a strong emphasis on inquiry-based, child-centered learning.

Reporting to the Head of Islamic Faculty and the PYP Coordinator, you will collaborate with mainstream teachers to weave Islamic values into cross-curricular units, fostering Hikmah and Akhlaq within the IB Learner Profile.

Qualifications

• Must have a recognised Bachelor of Education (or equivalent).
• Active NESA registration and NSW WWCC are required.
• Experience with or commitment to IB PYP inquiry-based learning in a faith-based context.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Shia Islamic Studies lessons embedded within PYP Units of Inquiry.
• Collaborate with primary classroom teachers to design cross-curricular learning experiences.
• Model Islamic virtues (Akhlaq), guide students in prayer and spiritual growth.
• Document units and map outcomes with the PYP Coordinator and Faculty Head.
